Re: I had a dinner with Sam Allarydyce last week
Maybe it's just me but Allardyce has sucked all the joy out of our season.

After an electrifying start to the season we all had high hopes but it didn't take him long to revert to type and start hoofing long balls up to a big man up front and putting ten men behind the ball against the big teams to go for a draw.

Last 12 games we are 18th in the form table - relegation zone - and our record is:

P12
W 1
D 5
L 6

8 points out of a possible 36.

He says himself this is the best squad he's ever had so how does he explain form like that?

A better manager would have got so much more out of this squad and that's the bottom line.

Yes look at us! Very rare to have west ham in this comfortable position despite an indifferent run of form

Barring Lyall and Redknapp Sam is our longest serving manager in the last 30 years and has steadied the ship when the stakes have never been higher for the club

He deserves a fucking statue

My evidence may be circumstantial - the statements about attacking football at the end of last season, Sullivan's rant at the end of season dinner, BFS losing control of player recruitment - but it is not difficult to conclude that it is not a happy relationship.

What a pile of shit. His relationship is what the media says it is, noone knows for sure barring Sam and Sullivan

Re: I had a dinner with Sam Allarydyce last week
I can understand a manager (or player) declaring his'love' for a team when he has had a long or successful career there or has formed a particularly strong affinity with the fans. In Sam's case I struggle to see why he would love the club beyond the size of his pay check. Although 4 years is a long time in football management it is hardly of dynastic proportions and the relationship with board and supporters has been lukewarm even at its height. With a single playoff victory to his credit I don't see a statue being erected just yet.

So his love is purely financial.

"When he first took the job, he didn't realise how big a club we are and it took him by surprise"

Lou Macari said exactly the same thing. I liked Macari.
